The sky, the sea and the living world, painted by hand.

Ayesa Kaur paints the science she teaches: a full Moon over a gold horizon, a sea turtle in the kelp, feathers that change color in the light. Each painting became something to wear, for women, men, kids and the art room.

From the paintings

Where each piece begins.

Every piece starts as one of Ayesa's paintings, most of them from the lessons she teaches.
Choose one to see what it became.

Night Studies, three drawings made from rules rather than paintings: Nocturne sweatshirt, Afterimage heavyweight tee, Heliograph heavyweight tee, Afterimage sweatshirt, Nocturne heavyweight tee, Nocturne canvas tote.

The knits

Four yarns, one stitch for every pixel of the drawing. The jacquard runs across the front, the back and, on the crew, the sleeves. Knitted to order, so allow 3 to 5 weeks.

The prints

The paper is taken out of each watercolor, so only the pigment is printed on the cotton. All-over pieces are printed edge to edge, then cut and sewn.

For the art room

An organic cotton studio apron with a two-part pocket, and a wipe-clean smock apron where paint splashes vanish into the stars.
